The short version
- Agentforce has four ways to pay, verified on salesforce.com in October 2026: Flex Credits ($500 per 100,000; a standard agent action meters 20 credits, about $0.10), $2 per conversation (still officially sold, customer-facing agents only), per-user add-ons ($125 per user per month for unmetered employee usage, $150 Industries, $50 Coworker, $5 access licence), and the Max edition at $550 per user per month with 2.75 million Flex Credits per org per year bundled (Core and Advanced include 500,000 and 1 million credits respectively, per Salesforce’s September 2026 editions announcement).
- A pilot can start at $0 licence cost: Salesforce Foundations is a free add-on for paid orgs, and new activations include 450,000 Flex Credits - roughly 22,500 standard agent actions - plus Data 360 provisioning. Limits and terms apply, but the entry ticket is genuinely free.
- Flex Credits and per-conversation pricing cannot coexist in the same org, per the pricing page - and the arithmetic matters: $2 buys one conversation, or 400 credits buy about 20 standard actions. A typical conversation consuming 2-3 actions costs $0.20 to $0.30 on credits. Run that comparison before accepting either default.
- The licence is rarely the biggest line. Implementation - use-case selection, data readiness, guardrails, evaluation - is where Agentforce projects earn or lose their business case, and consumption beyond allowances (including Data 360) is billed separately.
- Naming decoder for your research: the umbrella brand is now Agentforce 360, Data Cloud is Data 360, and the former Agentforce 1 editions were absorbed into Max in September 2026 per industry pricing trackers, with Agentforce 1 customers moved to Max at no cost.
Why Nobody Can Tell You One Number
Ask what Agentforce costs and you will get four different answers, because Salesforce publishes four different ways to pay for it - and the pricing has changed shape three times since launch, so most articles describe a model that no longer exists. Everything below was verified against salesforce.com’s pricing pages in October 2026, and it is written for the person approving the budget, not the person building the agent. Our Agentforce practice implements this platform for a living; the numbers are the vendor’s, the judgment calls are ours and labeled as such.
The Four Ways to Pay, Verified
As published on the Agentforce pricing page in October 2026:
- Flex Credits (the default): $500 per 100,000 credits. A standard agent action meters 20 credits (about $0.10); a voice action 30 (about $0.15). Credits are fungible across actions, prompts, translations, and voice, and come via Pre-Purchase, monthly Pre-Commit, or no-commitment PayGo billing.
- $2 per conversation: still officially sold, for customer-facing agents, and mutually exclusive with Flex Credits in the same org. The fork matters - see the arithmetic below.
- Per-user SKUs: the Agentforce add-on at $125 per user per month buys unmetered Agentforce usage for employees; Industries flavors run $150; Agentforce Coworker is a $50 standalone licence; a $5 access licence exists for users whose usage draws on org credits.
- Bundled at the top: the Max edition ($550 per user per month) for Sales and Service Cloud includes the Agentforce add-on, Coworker, and 2.75 million Flex Credits per org per year - the successor to Agentforce 1, which it absorbed in September 2026 per industry pricing trackers, with existing Agentforce 1 customers moved over at no cost.
A naming decoder, because your own research will hit all of these: the umbrella brand since late 2025 is Agentforce 360; Data Cloud is now Data 360; and anything describing "Agentforce 1 editions" as current is describing the pre-September world. Same products underneath.
The Credits-vs-Conversations Fork (Bring This to the Negotiation)
Since an org must pick one consumption model, run this before accepting either default. $2 per conversation equals 400 credits’ worth of consumption at top-up rates - about 20 standard actions. In our implementations, a typical resolved service conversation consumes 2 to 3 actions, call it $0.20 to $0.30 on credits; your mix will differ, and that is exactly the point. Illustrative: 2,000 customer conversations a month at 2.5 actions each is 100,000 credits, or $500 a month on credits versus $4,000 on per-conversation pricing - an 8x gap. The per-conversation model only wins when conversations are very long, many-step affairs, or when a fixed per-unit cost is worth paying for budget predictability. Walk into the licence conversation with your own actions-per-conversation estimate; it is the single number that moves this decision.
The flip side deserves equal honesty: credits are a meter, and meters run. Consumption beyond bundled allowances is billed, Data 360 consumption is billed separately from agent actions, and the pricing page itself warns that example costs exclude those adjacent meters. The companies that get surprised are not the ones that picked the wrong model; they are the ones that never built a burn-rate dashboard. Our ROI Playbook walks the full forecasting model, and the pricing calculator covers the licence side.
The $0 Pilot That Is Actually Real
The most underused fact in Agentforce budgeting: Salesforce Foundations is a $0 add-on for paid orgs, and as of October 2026 new activations include 450,000 Flex Credits plus Data 360 provisioning (earlier adopters received 200,000). At 20 credits per standard action, that is roughly 22,500 actions of runway - a real pilot, not a demo, at zero licence cost. Limits and terms apply, marketing email is capped, and heavy Data 360 usage beyond allowances bills separately, but the entry ticket is genuinely free for any org already paying for Sales or Service Cloud.
What the free credits do not buy is the part that decides whether the pilot proves anything: picking a use case with measurable value, getting the knowledge base and data the agent reads into shape, building guardrails and an evaluation harness before launch, and defining the human handoff. That work is the real pilot budget, and it is why "free pilot" projects without it tend to end in a shrug instead of a decision. We scope Agentforce pilots fixed-price with the consumption forecast included - the goal is a go/no-go answer with real numbers in eight weeks, and if the honest answer is that your volume does not justify production Agentforce yet, that is the answer you get. The free scoping call starts with your conversation volumes, not our pitch - and if you are still weighing the platform question itself, the Salesforce vs HubSpot decision guide is the zoom-out.
