The short version
- Short answer: they are the same product. Salesforce renamed Financial Services Cloud to Agentforce Financial Services in the late-2025 prefix wave, marketed it that way through much of 2026, then settled back on Financial Services Cloud around Dreamforce 2026.
- Agentforce now names the AI layer inside FSC, not the product: the prebuilt Banking Service Agent and Financial Advisor Agent, backed by what Salesforce describes as 200-plus industry templates, topics, and actions.
- The residue is everywhere: some Salesforce Help docs, partner pages, and proposals still carry the old name. If two vendors quote you two names, you are comparing one product.
- The reversal was not universal: Nonprofit Cloud kept its new name (Agentforce Nonprofit), while FSC and the Sales Cloud editions walked back. The only reliable source for a Salesforce product name in 2026 is its current product page.
- Practical rule for buyers: contracts and entitlements run on SKUs, not marketing names. Confirm what you are buying by edition and SKU, and keep both names in your paper trail.
The Short Answer
They are the same product. If one proposal on your desk says Financial Services Cloud and another says Agentforce Financial Services, nobody is pitching you a different platform; one of them is just using last season’s label. The household data model, the Actionable Relationship Center, the compliance tooling, the licences, all identical. What follows is the timeline of how one product ended up with two live names, and the small set of habits that keep the confusion from costing you anything.
The Timeline of One Messy Year
- Late 2025: Salesforce applies the Agentforce prefix across roughly two dozen products. Financial Services Cloud becomes Agentforce Financial Services; Nonprofit Cloud becomes Agentforce Nonprofit in the same wave.
- Through mid-2026: the new name is everywhere, including Salesforce’s own April 2026 blog posts celebrating the product’s G2 rankings and its tenth anniversary under the Agentforce Financial Services banner.
- Mid-September 2026, on the eve of Dreamforce: product-name trackers record the reversal; Salesforce’s product pages return to Financial Services Cloud. The briefly renamed Agentforce Sales Editions walk back to Sales Cloud naming in the same window.
- Today: salesforce.com leads with Financial Services Cloud, while residue of the old name survives in some Help documentation and on plenty of partner pages that have not caught up.
Salesforce has not published a formal explanation for the walk-back, so we will not invent one. The observable pattern is enough: Agentforce settled into naming the AI agent platform and the agents themselves, rather than wearing every industry cloud as a prefix.
What Agentforce Actually Names Now
Inside Financial Services Cloud, Agentforce is the AI layer, and it is real product rather than rebranding. Salesforce names two prebuilt, industry-trained agents, the Banking Service Agent and the Financial Advisor Agent, drawing on what it describes as more than 200 templates, topics, and actions spanning banking, wealth, insurance, compliance, lending, and collections.
The honest implementation note we give every firm: prebuilt is a starting line. Entitlements, grounding on your actual data, escalation paths, and compliance guardrails are the work between an impressive demo and an agent your compliance officer signs off on. That work lives inside the same posture as the rest of an FSC build, which is why we treat it as one practice on our Financial Services Cloud page.
Why the Churn Deserves Five Minutes of Your Attention
Not because the product changed, but because your paper trail now spans two names. Three places it bites:
- Vendor comparisons: a proposal still branded Agentforce Financial Services is dated branding, not a different product, but it is a useful freshness signal about the vendor’s materials. One of the consultancies ranking top-three for FSC searches still leads with the stale name.
- Internal documents: business cases, security reviews, and board decks written in early 2026 reference a product name that no longer appears on salesforce.com. A one-line addendum saves a confused procurement cycle.
- Search and research: documentation, community answers, and reviews are split across both names. When researching, search both; when verifying anything, trust the current product page over any blog, including ours, which is why this post carries its dates.
The Buyer Checklist
The whole defense fits in four habits: confirm anything you are buying by edition and SKU, where entitlements actually live and where nothing was renamed; keep both names in contract annexes and internal glossaries for the next year; pin pricing to the published numbers (unchanged through the churn: Sales and Service bundles at $350, $525, and $750 per user per month, single-cloud from $325, billed annually); and when a document’s claims hinge on the name, check the date. That is it. The product underneath has been stable the whole time, and it remains the strongest platform in the sector for the household-model, compliance-first builds that wealth firms, banks, and lenders actually need. If you want the naming conversation plus a real scoping conversation in the same 30 minutes, the call is free.
